Narrative: Nicholas and the Human Digestive System
Learner: Nicholas
Date: 20.08.18
Science Level 2
Living World: Recognise that all living things have certain requirements so they can stay alive
As part of our iExperience, we have been learning about 'How the Human Digestive System works'. We looked at the process of food and what happens when we eat. We learned about the organs and their functions. Through Kahoot and multichoice questions as well as a cut and paste activity we were able to learn about what our human bodies does to food and what we need to keep it healthy.
In this activity Nicholas is learning to develop his capabilities by cutting out pictures of the organs and pasting them in the right place. He develops his curiosity by listening carefully to the instructions and thinks carefully about his ideas. Nicholas is beginning to make connections by relating what happens when he eats certain foods and what it does to our bodies.
Key Competencies: Managing Self Thinking Relating to others Participating and Contributing and through the use of digital tools - using language, symbols and texts
Next Steps:
Continue developing your curiosity

Art: Nicholas and Sketching
Learner: Nicholas
Area: Art - Visual Arts Level 2
Date: 20.02.18
In Art, some of the learners have been learning about drawing from their own perspective and what they can see. The learners chose a specific place inside the playground and had to sketch what they saw. We were practising sketching with different lines and looking at different shapes as well as shading. It was not an easy task but learners did try their best.
Nicholas has been practicing his capability by trying hard to draw from his point of view and what he saw. He showed curiosity by looking for the best place that suited him in the playground. Nicholas was able to work collaboratively with others by sharing space helping others if asked. He is beginning to make connections and use techniques already learned to help him with his learning.
Key Competencies: Managing Self Thinking Relating to others Participating and Contributing and through the use of digital tools - using language, symbols and texts
Next Steps: Practice sketching only what you see, practice shading, continue to look at objects from your point of view and interpret what you see
